Michael Butorovich, Shortstop Emcee, Stereo Serrio, Mike
Writer, Lyricist, Photographer, Videographer, Homie from the Bay of Smoke
I was born Dec 6, 1987 in the harbor town of San Pedro, Ca, more commonly known as the Port of Los Angeles. My childhood was spent moving every few years until settling in the City of Orange. I've been residing in my hometown from 2007 to the present.
I picked up on writing short stories and lyrics when I was young. I also dreamt of being the vocalist for a band, primarily because it involved composing lyrics. I was lead to Hip-Hop by my homies Ape and Koma, formerly "Squirrel Shack" who trained me on self-producing.
The skate film 'Chomp On This' inspired me to start making videos and English filmmaker Alex Chandon's schlockumentary on black metal legends Cradle Of Filth "Sifting Through The Filth" heavily influence my approach to creating documentaries.
I've published an article in the Random Lengths News on the now disbanded San Pedro punk rock group 'Destroy L.A (DLA)' - Read "Destruction For Free"
I was moved by the work of photographer Rankin, who's book 'Heidilicious' featuring mega model Heidi Klum, made me pick up the camera.
Along with Rankin, I also look up to photographers Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Diane Arbus and Francesca Woodman.
Music has been a huge part of my life and I've always enjoyed House and Techno. Mixing music is one of my hobbies and sometimes I'll spin some jams as Stereo Serrio. I also like to go to underground raves when I get the chance.
Thank you for rolling up to take a look into my work, life, interests and ideas. Be well, my friends.
